Xtellus Partners today announced the first shipment of 30,000 metric tonnes of Venezuelan fertilizer to the United States through its subsidiary, XTS Commodities, marking an important milestone in the resumption of agricultural trade between the two countries.
Xtellus Partners extends its appreciation to John Barrett, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, and the U.S. Department of State for their engagement and support in helping bring this historic shipment to fruition. Representatives of Xtellus Partners travelled to Venezuela to commemorate the inaugural shipment alongside Barrett, members of the U.S. Embassy team and representatives of Venezuela’s Ministry of Hydrocarbons
The shipment, originating from Venezuela’s Jose Petrochemical Complex Terminal and destined for Galveston, Texas, will be supplied to a leading farmer-owned cooperative to support American farmers.
The transaction forms part of a long-term offtake agreement for Venezuelan fertilizers, establishing a foundation for continued exports to the U.S. agricultural market. Beyond the offtake agreement, Xtellus Partners has identified a pipeline of potential investment opportunities of up to $500 million across Venezuela’s petrochemical value chain, reflecting its appetite to support increased natural gas production, infrastructure and technology modernization, expanded petrochemical output, and other initiatives to strengthen the sector’s long-term productivity and competitiveness.
“We are proud to be part of this historic first shipment to support American farmers and open a new chapter in trade between the United States and Venezuela. It is only the beginning of our long-term commitment to supporting Venezuela’s economic development,” said Leonid Kouperschmidt, Managing Partner of XTS Commodities.
The agreement represents an important step towards rebuilding commercial ties between the United States and Venezuela, while creating a new channel for the supply of essential agricultural inputs to American farmers.
By connecting Venezuela’s fertilizer production capacity with U.S. agricultural demand and investing in the infrastructure that brings it to market, Xtellus Partners aims to support greater supply-chain diversification, strengthen bilateral trade and contribute to the long-term growth of Venezuela’s economy. As part of its commitment, XTS Commodities also intends to integrate Venezuelan product origination into its Latin American platform.
The company looks forward to building on the inaugural shipment through its long-term offtake arrangements and continued cooperation with its commercial partners in both countries.
